What are Divine Devotions? It’s a Journal of sorts. It’s a place where I ask the Lord to give me guidance on a topic of His choosing and I provide a supplemental message with it. How does it work? I tend to put on my headphones and start to listen to music in the background. Somehow that actually silences my mind to allow the flow to begin. Next, I start off taking a few deep breaths, then recite The Lord’s Prayer. I then ask Him to choose a scripture that is most relevant to what He wants me to speak on. I grab my Bible, close my eyes and open to a random page. Whatever my eyes fixate on, is the scripture I use as a prompt for me to begin writing. This begins the true message of divine devotion. When I’m finished, I either ask for another scripture OR I may shuffle my playlist of songs on my phone. The first song or bible scripture that pops up is relevant to the message of the day.
FORGIVENESS
Isaiah 64:8 “But now, O Lord, You are our Father. We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.”
Psalm 34:17-18. “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Innocence: I want you to know you are perfect in the eyes of the Lord. Think about how a mother holds their newborn and loves their child. Nurturing and cradling you. The Lord loves you the same way, so give your heaviness and troubles to the angels or the divine. They love to help, just like a mother would help you in a time of need. You just need to ask. They can not intervene in your life unless you specifically ask for help. They get excited to help you. Especially when it comes to lightening your soul. It’s ok to release that burden. Give any guilt, anger or blame that you hold on to from past decisions to them. By doing this, it allows you to focus on living more in the present moment, which is the only way you should be living. You can’t control anything from the past or future. In fact, when you start to think of the past, it could lead you into depression due to replaying decisions made. And when you think of the future, it can cause worry and anxiety because of the uncertainty of your path. Try your hardest to stay in this moment always.
Blessing in Disguise: You may not know why past decisions were made, but know they were made for a specific reason. It may not seem like it, but really it was a blessing in disguise. Maybe your prayer wasn’t answered yet because you are given that time to get closer to God. Or the time could’ve been for you to heal, or even time for the other person to heal. Everything is in God’s timing. Know that we’ve all chosen our paths before arriving on this planet. And some paths are harder than others, but know the reward may be mightier.
Focus on Service: What can you do to help others? Can you share your story or give someone a helping hand? God wants you to come in on a white horse to serve others. As you do that, you begin to feel lighter, and start to shine brighter. This then attracts those that need your help. Pray daily, “Lord lead me to those that need me, and for those that I need.”
Steady Progress: Regardless if you know it or not, when you forgive someone, you are actually releasing that burden for both you and them. Know that when you ask for forgiveness through a physical apology or just whispering in your prayers, that the Lord heard it, and forgives you. Closing that chapter with someone allows you space to walk forward on a more cleared path. It also allows space for those around you to move forward to receive healing and forgiveness.
In closing, a broken heart is most useful after it’s broken. It gives us an opportunity to align with God. It allows him to repair us and build us back up. It is in our brokenness that divine restoration takes place. Remember that he redirected your life from a disastrous outcome to one filled with peace and hope.
